Skateboarding: although skateboarding is continuously becoming more mainstream, the roots of the sport are still fervently alive and kicking. The 420 race in Honolulu is a prime example of the underground skating society at work. Every year on April 20th at 4:20 PM the top skaters from the state (and many from the mainland) meet on top of Tantalus Drive, a steep two-mile jungle road, which ends close to downtown. It?s a free for all, adrenaline loaded, insanity driven, ?go big or go home? style race. It takes place until the last man stands (there?s open street traffic during this unofficial race) or until the authorities grasp the meaning of 420 Tantalus?
