Xtreme Windsurfing wipeouts / crashes
What goes up must always come down, and this is true even for the world?s top professional windsurfers. Windsurfing in waves is a very challenging sport because so many factors come into play at the same time. When something goes wrong the sailor must be aware of the reef on the bottom and of his sail and board- one hit on the head can easily knock you unconscious. This segment is a collection of wipeouts recorded over several years on Maui, Oahu (Mokulei?a, Backyards, Toes, Diamond Head, Kailua) and the Fijian Islands!

Windsurfing Frigates Pass Fiji
On the outskirts of the Fijian atoll a handful of windsurfers feel at home. Josh Angulo, Scott Carvill, Frank Baensch, Fabrice Beaux and Scott McKercher travel to the Frigates during a week of gale force winds and threatening swell heights. Considering their ?at home? comfort with the labyrinth of reefs that lead to the spot, they decide to windsurf the 14 miles to the wave; meanwhile the support crew fights the storm in much slower boats. The dry reef that signals the end of the wave doesn?t seem to be part of their perception of the surroundings or bother them at all?

Windsurfing Jaws with Scott Carvill
