Paddleboarding
Paddle Boarding: In open ocean paddle boarding there are two disciplines: long distance paddles and short, sprint-like, close-to-shore races. The final of the Quicksilver World Paddleboard races on the South shore consists of an approximately eight-mile downwind race. The racers take advantage of local knowledge of currents, open ocean rollers and close-to-shore breaking waves that can be ridden. It always is a close head-to-head race that ends at the bottom of Diamond Head volcano at The Honolulu Canoe Club.

PaddleBoard
Paddle Boarding: When the waves are small, many of Hawaii?s water people stay in shape by long distance paddling on over-sized, round-bottomed surfboards. This discipline is recognized worldwide and when the best in the sport come together, a parade of endurance and painful sacrifice takes place. The Quiksilver World Paddleboard Race starts on the island of Molokai and takes the racers across the 20-mile long channel to Oahu?s southeast side ? Hawaii Kai. Requiring an incredible amount of control, dedication and manpower to win this event is the ultimate reflection of pride and recognition and earns the athlete an incredible amount of respect from the entire watersports community.
